The following is a Review from "The Literary World" Vol. XLVI Dec 1892: ""The Blue House", translated from the Flemish of Henri Conscience, is a pretty story, of which the scene is laid in Antwerp at the beginning of the present century. The hero, a young shopman, Simon Horms, is in love with the daughter of his neighbour, Master Verhoeven, the cowherd. He has to contend against two obstacles, a righ rival and the illness of his mother, which, it is feared, would condemn her daughter-in-law to the life of a nurse. All, however, ends happily - - Simon going into business on his own account and making a fortune by a lucky accident. There is an air of simple, unpretentious reality about "The Blue House" which makes us regret that its English dress does not fit better."" ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 146 pages
